Microscopy

Microscopes in use and development

The lab makes use of and develops microscopes for use in single-molecule biophysics. Currently, we make use of integrated force-fluorescence microscopes commercialised by Lumicks (C-trap, Q-trap) of a commercial TIRF microscope (Nikon) and a homebuilt TIRF microscope based on micro mirror technology commercialised by Mad City Labs, as well as various homebuilt magnetic tweezers. Together with the Smith lab (TU Delft), we are also developing new instrumentation modules.

Openings for students

We will have openings for students in fall 2025.
